An excellent entry-level wine from grapes grown in and around Pommard. Will tease you and make you want to try Anne’s better wines.

Anne’s entry-level white wine has been very well received. It is a fine example of a wine that is pleasant to drink, but also stands up to food.

This wine is the exception in Burgundy. By law, it is two-thirds Gamay and one-third Pinot Noir; so it is the only red wine in Burgundy that is not 100% Pinot Noir. It is very popular because of its low price point and wonderful drinkability.

Francois gives me right of first refusal to buy all of his wines. I usually take all he makes. Francois’ style is similar to his father’s style with emphasis on the fruit. Yet, he “americanizes” his wines a little. Those who enjoy American Pinot Noirs are usually very impressed with his wines.

Jean-Luc Joillot Bourgogne Haute Cote de Beaune (blanc)

The Chardonnay vineyards for this wine are just barely across the line and into the Haute Cote de Beaune. They are not far from the Clos des Mouches vineyard. This great location gives the wine its creaminess and body.

Rene treats this entry-level wine with the same care and quality as his more expensive wines. It has a delicious fruity flavor. One of people’s favorites.

Jean-Luc’s Pinot Noir vineyard is just barely in the Haute Cote, only about 100 meters from the Pommard village line. Maybe that’s why this wine tastes so much like an entry-level Pommard. It’s price point also gives this wine great appeal.

This wine tastes bigger than its classification. That’s because all the grapes are grown in the town of Pommard. These declassified grapes produce such a full-bodied, entry-level wine that people call it a “steak lover’s Pinot”.

New vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin.  Young vines, so Chantal sells it as a Bourgogne, rather than a Gevrey. Basically, this is a declassified Gevrey that represents incredibly high quality for a relatively inexpensive wine. Always one of the first to sell out.

Always one of the first to sell out. My wife says you could make a best-selling air freshener out of the bouquet of this wine. Incredible value!
