The family acquired this parcel some time ago. It was planted in Pinot Noir and they have replanted it with Chardonnay. Located in a prestigious part of the Saint Aubin bowl just behind Chassagne-Montrachet. A wine that resembles the better wines from Chassagne. Sometimes called a “poor man’s Chassagne”.
The Charmois vineyard lies contiguous to Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru parcels. There is a bit more eastern exposure, giving more sun influence to the vines, which contributes to its big floral and citrus flavors. Saint Aubin is often called a “poor man’s Chassagne” because of its lower price, but similar taste to wines from Chassagne. Excellent value!
