Alain Patriarche Meursault-Blagny Piece Sous Bois
Blagny is a tiny hamlet (maybe a dozen homes) just above the slope of Meursault. These grapes make a wine that ages well.

The Grand Cru of Meursault. Shows wonderfully when young, then only gets better.
One of the lesser known Premier Cru wines from Meursault. For those who know this wine, however, it is unforgettable. Alain’s Poruzot is stunning.
The Grand Charrons vineyard lies at the end of the row of Premier Cru vineyards, with only a slightly more eastern exposure. It’s always been one of the highest rated, village-level vineyards in Meursault.
An amazing value wine. True Meursault quality at a reasonable price. Vieilles vignes means old vines. But then again, all of Alain’s wines are “old vines”. He just happens to put it on this label.
The Monatine vineyard lies entirely within the village of Meursault. Alain’s vines are from the oldest part of the vineyard, but lie about 30 ft outside the boundary to be designated a village-level wine. He can therefore only market the wine as a regional Bourgogne, even though it has all the characteristics of a village Meursault. A top value that many sommeliers call, the “Baby Meursault”.
Aligote is a grape type. This is the “other white grape” in Burgundy. It makes a simple, clean, and delicious wine. Do drink it young. Anybody who likes Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc will probably enjoy the Aligote even more. A great aperatif wine and another top value from Alain.
