Dupuis, Andre

Andre Dupuis owns a 20-hectare family estate located in the northernmost part of the Macon region, just south of the Cote Chalonnaise. He has been joined in the estate by his two sons. The estate is now largely run by his son, Remi.

The Dupuis family estate is Certified as “Sustainable Agriculture” (Agriculture Raisonee). They do NOT use herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Their aim is to preserve the soil of their heritage.

One of the most distinctive practices is they put straw between every second row. (see picture) This practice brings natural “food” to the soil and better microbiological life in the soil. It also enables them to use the tractor less, which results in less soil compaction and more aeration of the soil. Better soil equals better potential for quality fruit.

Dupuis prunes the vines to leave only one fruit-producing branch per vine, which results in less production, but also more concentrated fruit. This estate is an excellent example of a quality-oriented family that produces incredible wines at an affordable price point.
